原名 Kisean Anderson 的 Sean Kingston，出生於邁阿密佛羅里達州，成長在亞買加，祖父則是亞買加傳奇製作大師 Jack Ruby，從小身處音樂環境下長大的 Sean，六歲開始就會創作，運用 Dancehall、Reggae、Pop、Doo-Wop等元素混入 Hip-Hop/Rap 領域中。

11 歲的年紀曾因犯錯而吃了 21 天牢飯，從進監歷程、無家可歸流落街頭、過於早熟被迫面對殘酷世界的種種場景，都是 Sean 創作筆下的寫實紀錄。與生俱來的音樂天賦，讓 Sean 在邁阿密才藝選秀上大出鋒頭。直到布蘭妮、蕾哈娜、五角暢銷專輯幕後製作人 Jonathan “J.R.” Rotem 被他的 DEMO 帶深深吸引住，以年僅 17 歲的稚齡，幸運的簽下一紙合約，為他的音樂事業跨出一大步。
